The Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce will host the Bassmaster Elite Series on April 6-9, 2018 at the City of Orange Boat Ramp on Simmons Drive. This will be the third Elite Series the Chamber has hosted since 2013. The tournament will be telecast on an ESPN or similar television network.

The Bassmaster Elite Series is the highest level of professional bass fishing tournaments.  Competitors must qualify for the series through the Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Opens or the B.A.S.S Nation, and anglers who are already on the Elite Series must re-qualify each year by maintaining enough points throughout the season.  The pro anglers compete all season for the opportunity to win points toward the Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year award and to qualify for the Bassmaster Classic. The Series was founded in 2006.  Its predecessors were the Bassmaster Tour, Top 150 and Top 100.  If you are interested in being a marshal look for the guidelines on

David Jones and John Gothia are the Chairmen for the event.  The daily launch time for the anglers will be at 6:45 A.M. Daily weigh-ins will be at 3:00 P.M. Flights and check-in times will be staggered to give each angler equal fishing time.  If you have never seen the daily launch and weigh-in you are missing a treat.

To enhance the fishing tournament the Chamber will host the Orange County River Festival.  It will run the same dates as the Fishing Tournament, April 6-9th. The festival will feature food vendors, craft vendors, display vendors and a carnival. There will be something for all ages.

There will be FREE concerts on Friday and Saturday nights. Friday will feature Dustin Sonnier playing 5:30-7:30 P.M. and The Mixed Nuts playing from 8-10 P.M. Saturday’s headline entertainer  will be Country music star Tracy Byrd playing from 7-9 P.M. Opening for Tracy Byrd will be Curse and the Cure playing form 5:30-6:30 P.M.

There are sponsorship opportunities for the event as well as booth spaces available. For more information, please contact the chamber at 409.883.3536.
